ELECTRONICS PROJECT ENGINEER

***RELOCATION AVAILABLE***

My client are a global multi-award winning business based in Gloucestershire, designing and manufacturing the highest quality consumer product. With a strong culture and an atmosphere condusive to innovation and continuous improvement. They are looking for an Electronics Project Engineer to join our New Product Development team. This role will give you an opportunity to develop and grow as well as learn new skills. The future roadmap will see an opportunity to develop products connecting to other home devices via IOT and any relevant experience with this would be beneficial.

ELECTRONICS PROJECT ENGINEER FUNCTION

A degree qualified Electronic Engineer with an interest in a career in product design for the consumer market. The successful candidate may have between 3-5 years of experience in industry. 

 

You will have good fundamental Electronics design knowledge from a relevant HNC/HND/degree qualification and ideally some prior practical product design experience, taking a concept from initial design through to volume production. You will have an interest in consumer electronics and a willingness to learn, an inquisitive mind and be able to pick up new skills quickly. 

 

Mentoring will be provided from more senior team members on existing and new product designs, coupled with practical design experience as part of an ongoing Personal Development Plan to allow for career progression of the successful candidate to more senior roles during their tenure with the business. 

 

ELECTRONICS PROJECT ENGINEER ROLE

–  Assist with the development of design solutions for new projects and existing product improvements 

– Supporting the hardware design of embedded electronics systems using a variety of existing and advancing technologies but primarily focussed around microprocessors, power supplies, sensor interfacing, power systems control (relays, triacs, stepper motors, etc.) and user interfaces 

– Supporting the development and testing of embedded control and communication firmware (Embedded C), PC application software (C#) and mobile apps for our connected products. 

– Working as part of an NPD project team, undertaking tasks as appropriate to the specific project but also capable of working independently on designated work packages 

– Participating in the engineering design activity within an NPD cross-functional project team, providing support to other engineers and departments 

– Assisting with the raising and evaluation of concessions and engineering changes. 

– Helping to deliver technical solutions for new products that are cost-effective, reliable, and durable and ensuring that verification testing activities for products in accordance with qualification test programs and deadlines are completed 

– Working within the guidelines of departmental and company: policies, procedures, and work instructions 

 

 ELECTRONICS PROJECT ENGINEER KEY SKILLS

–  Experience in working with 8/16/32-bit microcontrollers (familiarity with ST/Atmel/Microchip products would be advantageous) 

– Experience of circuit design and PCB layout for EMC design consideration (familiarity with OrCAD would be advantageous) 

– Experience in Embedded C coding (familiarity with Keil, IAR would be advantageous) 

– Awareness and understanding of EMC compliance testing for Europe and the rest of the world 

– An appreciation of the design and interaction of electro-mechanical products/mechanisms or experience of control and system design would be desirable 

– Self-motivated, ability to work alone or as part of a small team 

– Excellent attention to detail with good communication skills 

– A can-do attitude with a willingness and desire to continue to learn and develop Electronic engineering skills
