Due to growth an exciting opportunity has become available for a highly experienced health and safety professional to join a leading national business to provide leadership on all health and safety matters. This is an exciting time to join the business who boast no major incidents in 42 years of business and recognition as a RoSPA President’s Award holder.
The role is based at HQ but occasional nationwide travel should be expected.
The role:
- Leading the health and safety team (day-to-day line management, target setting and performance monitoring)
- Lead the integration of H&S responsibilities into our existing H&S team as we continue to expand this service
- Reviewing key areas of H&S risks for the company and implementing processes to reduce these risks, gaining ‘buy in’ from key decision-makers
- Ensuring we have efficient, effective procedures in place for all aspects of H&S management
- Ownership of all of the company’s H&S documentation and H&S training materials to ensure they remain current and communicate key messages as engagingly as possible
- Monitoring and interpreting changes to legislation and leading on the implementation of cost-effective solutions that ensure the company remains compliant
- Driving key H&S and wellbeing initiatives, proactively promoting them and using influencing skills to engage key decision-makers
- Managing relationships with stakeholders, especially our house builder customers
- Representing the company at external meetings and events in an ambassadorial capacity
- Taking every opportunity to implement best practice, based on knowledge gained through reading articles and reports and attendance at meetings and events
- Providing reports to the Board of Directors as required (scheduled reports and incident-related if necessary)
The person:
Qualifications and Experience:
- NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Possesses or working towards Chartered Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health
- Significant experience of managing H&S at a senior level in the construction sector
