On a day to day basis you will be managing a small team of 4 made up of analysts and a developer. The work of the team is wide ranging and includes daily work on the care, maintenance and systematic updating and upgrading of the network and equipment. They provide logistical support for all other functions in the organisation from setting up enrolment, computers in exam halls to making sure the presentation kit works for open days and events.
The role is partly hands-on and hours can be variable so it is important that you enjoy a role with flexibility and variety, as nothing ever stays the same. While your job would mostly take place on weekdays between 8.30 and 5, you or some of your team may need to cover some weekends or out of hours, particularly for fixes which require network down-time, as well as call outs.
You would have overall responsibility for managing the IT budget and for contracting and liaison with (and ‘management’ of) external providers, contractors and regulatory agencies. It also entails working with the Vice Principal and other members of the Senior Team, to plan works and relevant communications. There are a number of Policies where your role will be key in achieving them. They are, as you would expect, in line with Cyber Essentials and working to Cyber Essentials plus.
