Jig/Workshop Operative

Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm Friday: 8am to 2pm
£14.00 per hour
The role:
The role of the Workshop Operator is to work with tooling and machining to support production in the making of tools and jigs. Working in conjunction with highly skilled tooling personnel to provide a proactive approach to support production with the correct tooling and equipment for jobs. This role is vital to support the commercial readiness of the business, ensuring our jigs and tools enable high-performance, high-quality production output and support us in our mission for market growth.
Fabricate and assemble details for all types of tooling such as jigs, fixtures, tools, all standard and related tooling, plastic and wood tools.
Prepare rough tooling stock for final finishing.
Clamp structural components for welding and locate tooling reference points on jig structures, tools after methods and sequences have been determined by production.
Set up and operate such equipment as centre lathes, milling machine, turret lathe, drill presses, power saws, band saws, pedestal and disc grinders, and other power tools.
Interpret and work from blueprints, tooling drawings and sketches, using machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments, (exercising a knowledge of cutting characteristics of metals, feeds and speeds of machines and of related machine shop practices and procedures)
Manufacture jigs and tools using machine tools, hand tools welding machines with a variety of materials.
Repair and update broken jigs as per the original specification.
Requirements:
Previous experience with standard machine shop tools and machinery
Experience working in a changing operational environment.
Experience working with tools, equipment, and materials in a factory environment.
