Materials Engineer

Materials Engineer – Gloucester

Full time – Up to £32,500 – M-F

Due to a recent expansion, my client is looking for a Materials Engineer will manage the delivery of science & engineering projects across the Composite & Polymer products business unit, primarily focusing on Polymer Film applications. 

This will include development of material solutions for our customers, preparation of enquiry responses, material investigations, testing & validation activities, productionisation support, development projects and improvement projects – a widely varied role. The role will award technical project ownership from conception through to production and after sales support.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery of science & engineering projects including material and process investigations, enquiry responses & material development projects.
• Manage the development of new products, processes, and solutions for a variety of challenging applications.
• Specification & execution of test programs for development and validation of new products.
• Supporting the business development team with on-site visits, customer calls and event attendance.
• Acting as a point of contact for suppliers, customers, sister sites and internal departments.
• Become the technical expert in the business for assigned projects.
• Definition of internal and external test programs to enable characterisation of new grades.
• Occasional UK travel likely, infrequent overseas travel potential

Person:

• Qualified in a relevant materials, science, or engineering discipline.
• Awareness of material science and engineering principles
• Well organised and comfortable completing multiple projects concurrently.
• Experience in technical writing of reports.
• Problem solving ability essential.
• Familiarity with composite or polymer materials desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail and enjoy working in a procedure driven environment.
• Eligible for Security Clearance.
