Quality Assurance Technologist – Days
Overview
Join our team as a Quality Assurance Technologist and play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with food safety and quality requirements. You will be responsible for conducting internal audits, monitoring process control, supporting product development, and collaborating with various teams to maintain high standards of food safety and quality.
Responsibilities
Internal Auditing
- Conduct scheduled internal audits to verify compliance to the HACCP plan, certification, and customer standards
- Complete Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) Audits against defined standards
- Conduct Glass, brittle and hard plastics (GBHP) audits
- Ensure quality control (QC) checks are being completed as per requirements against defined standards
Process Control
- Complete routing monitoring activities (e.g., product and area temperature monitoring)
- Control the product quarantine procedure
- Conduct chemical titrations to ensure requirements and parameters are adhered to
- Control and maintain equipment calibration records (e.g., scales, labellers, temperature probes)
- Complete raw material and ingredient intake checks
Continuous Improvement
- Ensure product quality and site standards are maintained through scheduled activities and spot checks – monitor, identify and correct deviations
- Complete and support with Corrective Action investigations and conduct root cause analysis
- Support other teams with investigations and root cause analysis
- Verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions
Sampling and Testing
- Coordinate and fulfilment of testing and sampling activities (e.g., sample submissions, sample despatch, assisting with shelf life and production trials)
- Conduct environmental and utilities testing for both scheduled and ad hoc samples (e.g., environmental swabbing, water testing)
- Support the Product Management function with trial samples
- Assisting with and undertaking site taste panel and organoleptic assessments against specifications
Product Development
- Support the Product Management function in EPD and NPD tasks (e.g., sample collation and despatch, photo standards)
Documentation
- Verify Production records verification
- Ensure the issuing and use of the latest versions of controlled documents via the QMS (Quality Management System)
Support and Collaboration
- Represent the Technical Department as required and champion a positive Food Safety and Quality Culture
- Support Technical Management in customer visits and third-party audits
- Provide support to the business where appropriate during peak production periods
- Any other reasonable duty as requested by Technical Management
Qualifications
- Food Safety Level 2
- Sound understanding of HACCP
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Competent IT skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
