Senior Engineer

Job Purpose

  • To produce engineering technical data that delivers to customer requirements ensuring Product Quality and Industrial standards, Environmental and Legal requirements are met.
  • To be the source of specialist knowledge.
  • To offer technical support to other areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Actively support the Engineering Management Team.
  • Contribute to the departments’ success through the achievement of individual KPIs.
  • To design products which meet Quality and Industrial standards, Environmental and Legal requirements.
  • To apply specialist knowledge and techniques to the design of products
  • Responsible for technical content of complex products, projects, contracts or BU product lines.
  • Responsible for leading technical projects and teams.
  • Approval of technical documents.
  • To ensure that we have access to the latest specialist knowledge relevant to the role.
  • To comply with safety requirements including PPE compliance.
  • Ensuring quality of service and compliance in legislation and standards through effective technical risk management including Health & Safety, the provision of accurate technical data which supports quality initiatives and right first time practice.
  • Work within the departmental policies and procedures.
  • Actively support the Strategic Plan and provide timely and accurate reporting.
  • Supporting operations and attending production and sales meetings when required.

  • Provide technical engineering support to the group companies solving complex technical problems and providing appropriate guidance.

Decision Making

Responsible for technical data decision making within Company procedures which comply with legislation, quality and safety standards.

Problem solving decisions which require frequent analysis and appraisal of a diverse and complex range of results, information, trends, problems or situations. Developing innovative solutions to one off problems will require judgement or creative skills.

Communication & Contacts

The role requires complex verbal and written communication, including explaining complex procedures, negotiating contracts or presenting to external organisations or senior management Regular contact both company-wide and with external stakeholders, including senior contacts and international contacts where sensitive, technical or complex communications and explanations are required.

People Management

Management of project team members and the development, training, mentoring and coaching of new members and/or apprentices as required.

The JOB has the responsibility for directing and co-ordinating employees in one or more areas of the business (e.g. across a number of projects or across sites)

Qualifications & Experience

Essential –

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of the design and application of technical pumps, liquid fluid systems and associated equipment.
  • Highly numerate with competent IT skills
  • SAP
  • Knowledge and experience of 2D and 3D drafting and design work

Desirable-

  • Incorporate Engineer status (or equivalent recognised professional standard)
  • Extensive specialist experience of at least one element of the design and application of technical pumps, liquid fluid systems and associated equipment
  • Project Management experience.
