Trainee Extrusion Operator
Re Recruitment are looking for trainee extrusion operators to work our prestigious client who is UK leading company in pallet warping and shrink-wrapping products.
Your Job Purpose
- To train to become an extrusion operator, to work under supervision at all times and in all areas until you are deemed fully competent to undertake all tasks and aspects of your job role.
- To train to be a key member of the extrusion team ensuring that the extruder machines are run in line with company manufacturing, quality and safety procedures at all times.
- Where trained and competent, to ensure that the extruders are accurately monitored in line with laid down procedures and to ensure that feed stock is produced to the highest quality standards.
- To work with all members of your team to endeavour to meet the needs of the customer (pre-stretch and rewind) in line with business aims and objectives.
- When trained to take responsibility and record and monitor quality and scrap within the Extrusion areas in line with the procedures and requirements of the quality control system
- Actively work to reduce scrap and continuously improve the efficient running of the Extrusion section.
- To be proactive in the development of new processes and procedures in order to increase efficiency and reduce waste within the extrusion section.
- To support the embedding of continuous improvement within the extrusion section
Kev Responsibilities
Internal Operational responsibilities
- To work under supervision, and to operate any and all extruder and ancillary equipment only when deemed competent to do so in accordance with company procedure. When trained and deemed competent to undertake the following tasks
- To accurately record machine operating conditions and monitor the performance of machines in line with company procedures and instruction form your manager.
- To continuously monitor the quality of material produced and liaise with your team and shift manager on machine operating conditions.
- To accurately record scrap and reasons for scrap each shift.
- To provide accurate and detailed information with regard to machine performance, quality, scrap and health and safety in daily shift changeover meetings.
- Ensure that material is handle correctly, stored correctly and supplied to customers (pre-stretch and rewind) to the quality standards required.
- Ensure that the blends and polymers being used during production are in line with customer order requirements.
- Ensure that machines are cleaned and maintained within the levels of your authority and that section is cleaned, tidied and organised.
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures are adhered to in line with legal requirements and company policy at all times.
Internal responsibilities

- Effectively handle all aspects of your job role in conjunction with the internal systems as laid down in the ISO, BRC, IOP and Hygiene processes and procedures.
- Take personal responsibility for the Health & Safety of yourself and your work colleagues in accordance with company Health & Safety policy.
- Communicate with the team within the Conversion area in line with your line manager’s instructions.
- Ensure that all information on works orders is sufficient to allow production in meeting the customer’s expectation.
- Notify your shift manager and team promptly of any machine and maintenance issues or breakdowns.
- Ensure efficient use of prime and reclaimed materials at All times.
- Reduce scrap and rejects where possible and support continuous improvement.
- Undertake any ad hoc projects as and when required by management. Undertake any training required as part of your continued development Actively train and support other members of your team
Shifts:
- 4 on 4 off
- 2 days and 12 nights
- 12 hours shifts
Pay
- £9.77 per hour
- Overtime x 1.5
- Potential to earn up to 36k a year after taken on permanent contact after 12 weeks
