Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced buyer with a successful track record of purchasing within the manufacturing sector. 

The role

Reporting directly to the Materials Manager, you will be part of the buying team to administer the purchasing module to deliver cost effective, timely and value-added purchasing to all internal customers. You will manage all aspects of procurement within the supply base in a professional and ethical manner with due regards to total acquisition cost, on time delivery, quality, continuous improvement, risks and deliver cost reduction.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Full responsibility for all aspects of purchasing & supply
  • Negotiating Supplier agreements & pricing
  • Processing orders & managing through the ERP system
  • Tracking orders in relation to the production schedule & forecast
  • Manage WIP & stock levels to utilise production capacity and realise customer order requirements
  • Maintaining accurate supplier & pricing records
  • Arranging shipping from far east
  • Working with the engineering department to source components for NPD work & update engineering changes to the BoM records
  • Administering & supporting the annual stock take & the investigation & rectification of anomalies


Skills and Attributes

  • Knowledge and understanding of supply chain concepts and logistics
  • A team player happy to work with others with the same ethos
  • Experience in a purchasing management and working with the senior management team, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of handling and negotiating contracts and supplier agreements/pricing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and supplier relationship development skills.
  • Computer literate with a good understanding of Excel and MRP/ERP systems.

Qualification and Experience

  • 3 year purchasing experience in a Production/ Manufacturing environment
  • Fully or Partially qualified within CIPS (or studying towards CIPS) or similar qualification

The successful applicant will be a good team player, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Highly self-motivated and organised, they will be able to maintain a proactive approach to the responsibilities of this role.
