This company provides cyber consultancy and cyber managed services which help to detect, protect and educate against the ever-changing cyber threat. Building it’s team from a foundation of UK Government (ex-Military) and Commercially experienced specialists all holding current and relevant cyber certifications. Today, core services are based around a 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC) based in Gloucester .

The Role:

As a SOC (Security Operations Centre) Tier 1 Analyst, you will be working within a small team working directly for the SOC Tier 2 Analyst. You will be responsible for monitoring client facing networks for security issues (using multiple SIEM/log analysis toolsets), assisting with vulnerability scanning, threat intelligence and security incident response. You will be part of a small but highly experienced team working to ensure that the company’s and clients information and systems are protected, in accordance with the needs of the business and according to Information Security principles of availability, integrity and confidentiality.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Analysis, triage and investigation of alerts from multiple SIEMs and intelligence monitoring capabilities.
  • Log analysis during the analysis of events and confirmed incidents.
  • Assistance in the Incident Response process internally and in communication with the customer
  • Production of high-quality alert, incident and threat intelligence reports
  • Assist in the compilation of phishing campaign templates, running campaigns and report writing.
  • Researching new methods and techniques in cyber security to improve your knowledge as a Cyber Analyst.

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of networking including TCP/IP with an active interest in software systems/engineering and/or secure communications and Information systems and malware analysis.
  • Knowledge of network security.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information.
  • Self-motivation and able to take responsibility.
  • Able to manage and prioritise and tasks and time efficiently.
  • Personal interest and passion for cyber or information security.


  • Experience of working with SIEM’s (ideally LogRhythm).
  • Educated to degree standard in IT Security or equivalent.
  • Experience with ticketing systems, to include workflow, ticket routing and resolution documentation.
  • Knowledge or experience of security standards (NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials).
