Electrical/AM2 Assessor/Examiner

Responsibilities

In a typical week you’ll assess up to six candidates, with some completing the full test and others resitting individual sections of it. When you’re not actively observing candidates, marking the bays or stripping them out, you’ll be responsible for checking stock levels for AM2 materials and ordering replacements.

The AM2 practical assessment is the end test for all electrical apprentices as they complete their training. We’re looking for an experienced electrician to assess candidates as they complete this challenging final part of their apprenticeship.

You’ll be based in our AM2 centre. Each week you’ll assess apprentices as they complete installation, fault finding and testing following the standards set nationally by the AM2 awarding body. After providing a brief one-to-one induction, you’ll observe the process, marking the installation on completion and dismantling the work to prepare for the next candidate.  There’s a clear marking guide and procedures to work to, ensuring fairness across the board.

Working hours will be based on a 39-hour week, Monday to Friday, including an early finish on Fridays.

The successful applicant with need to undergo a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as Criminal Records Bureau) as a condition of the job offer.

 

Required Experience

Applicants will need relevant industry qualifications (NVQ3 or equivalent) plus at least five years ‘on the tools’.  If you don’t already hold a level 3 testing qualification, the Assessor Award and a first aid qualification, you’ll need to achieve these too so we’ll arrange and fund this training as part of your induction process.
