One of the UK’s predominant, national organisations who have an unrivalled reputation for quality and expertise are looking for an immediately available, experienced Financial Controller to support the finance team. Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful incumbent will need to have had experience working in a £12m – £15m turnover business.
The Role
Hands-on, self – starter who can juggle varied tasks and responsibilities.
Assist the management team with preparing budgets.
The scope of the role will encompass everything from completing monthly management accounts to other weekly/monthly MI reporting. The role requires a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Lead and manage the efficient operation of the company’s Finance Division
To lead and manage the production of monthly management accounts, statutory accounts, and other statutory returns as well as overseeing PAYE, debt management and supplier payments
To develop and implement a robust and streamlined budgeting process.
To act as a mentor to non-financially trained Managers and staff to improve their commercial skills such as advice on the monitoring of operational performance and improvement measures.
To provide an input to the organisations long terms strategic plan including the commercial framework and financial requirements implicit in these plans.
Determine the organisations’ non-financial key performance indicators and monitor
Implement and streamline Financial Controls across the business
Help to grow the business profitably including setting desired minimum margins for each business stream, reviewing new business tenders over £5,000 revenue
Define and agree the FPA’s approach to project costing
· Line Management responsibility for Financial Accountant
What you will need to succeed
Detailed knowledge of commercial contracts & financial, analytical, forecasting, and budgetary skills.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, coach and manage multi-disciplined staff
Highly organised with good time management skills and ability to organise own workload with a can-do attitude
Must have Finance Manager and/or Financial Controller experience – ideally 5 years.
In depth knowledge of banking, petty cash, Sales & Purchase Ledger, and all associated processes, including credit control, reconciliations, including using Bank software for electronic payments
Strong IT skills
Calm and professional disposition and ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines with a flexible approach to changing priorities
High degree of honesty and integrity with a willingness to accept responsibility
Operational and strategic management, including analytical skills, report writing and marketing
Demonstrable experience of introducing improved business models, processes, and best practice
