Health and Safety Officer Role

   

Provide support and advice as the subject matter expert.

Promote the development of a positive health and safety (H&S) culture through consultation, involvement, communication and collaboration with employees and their representatives on H&S matters.

 

Health and Safety Officer Role Details

   

1. Provide support as the H&S Subject Matter Lead to all managers including UK Service Centres.

2. Provide advice to managers in all aspects of H&S management in particular assessing risk and possible safety hazards of all aspects of operations & including specialist advice e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases

3. Ensure all legal and other obligations for reporting of health and safety issues are fulfilled in a timely manner & compile monthly Operations analytical reports for safety data including incidents and accidents and produce statistics per Business Unit

4. Facilitate and/or complete H&S investigations including causes of accidents and other unsafe conditions, health-related complaints and cases of ill health and. appropriate recommendations for remedial action to prevent recurrence.

5. Chair monthly health and safety meetings for the HSE Committee.

6. Conduct audits in line with the SHEQ audit programme to determine the level of compliance with requirements across the UK.

7. Facilitate / Lead improvement activities and action plans as required & attend regular Production Level 1 stand-up meetings to provide H&S guidance to attendees.

8. Participating in continuing education to update knowledge of H&S protocols and techniques including the delivery of regular H&S toolbox talks.

9. Liaison with external H&S authorities as required.

10. Carry out relevant H&S training of staff as appropriate, including induction training.

11. Document & implement H&S management arrangements as required.

   

Health and Safety Officer Requirements

   

· Strong written and verbal communications skills.

· The provision of technical data and reports.

· Liaises with external supply chain and internal stakeholders with regard to H&S.

   

· Ability to influence and provide confidence when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.

· Ability to train others when required.

   

· Qualification approved by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) e.g. NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety,

   

· Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

· Maintaining professionalism and integrity.

· Effective time management and organisational skills.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Ability to work as part of a team or independently as appropriate.
