HR Manager

This is a true generalist operational HR role where no two days are the same so you must be able to keep lots of plates spinning when it is needed and enjoy being hands-on in a varied role.

You will be experienced in providing legal guidance and advice on policies and procedures and will be well versed across all areas of the employment lifecycle.  You’ll also enjoy being solution focussed with the ability to challenge assumptions, make decisions and give advice confidently.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for HR enquiries from managers and employees, ensuring accurate HR advice and highest level of confidentiality.
  • Advising managers and employees on the terms and conditions of employment.
  • Supporting the business to deliver the full recruitment process and in managing the new starter and leaver process. Provide advice on recruitment and selection strategies where required.
  • Keeping abreast of legislation affecting human resources; train/update managers where applicable on employment law changes and monitor company policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures and responds to inquiries regarding these.
  • Manage complex employee relations casework including disciplinaries, grievances, performance and absence.
  • Carry out necessary administrative duties including the maintenance of personnel files in line with GDPR.
  • Identify and recommend areas of improvement.
  • Handle confidential matters with discretion.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of projects as required/requested from the senior management team.
  • Liaise with payroll to ensure timely submission of any payroll amendments.
  • Provide insight and recommendations on HR initiatives that can be leveraged to strengthen business results.
  • Support with drafting and issuing staff communications/newsletter/updates.
  • Represent the company in a positive, professional manner at all times.
  • Be prepared to support fellow managers in any meetings required.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Proven track record as a HR generalist, preferably at a manager or HRBP level.
  • Ideally CIPD qualified (level 5 min) or relevant demonstratable experience.
  • Excellent all-round knowledge of and up-to-date UK employment law.
  • Experience of designing and writing HR policies, procedures, offers and contracts of employment.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Good generalist HR experience.
  • Ability to support and influence stakeholders including senior managers.
  • Adaptability and flexibility – willingness to flex hours to support business requirements (on occasions).
  • The base location for this role will be Gloucester, but you must have a willingness to use own transport to travel to all other site locations – Tewkesbury and Worcester.

Hours:                     08:00 am – 16:30 pm Monday – Friday

Salary:                    35- 40k for depending on experience
