The Role

Project Consultants form part of the Technology division whose mission is to support and enhance customer’s infrastructures so that they can meet their business objectives. A Project Consultant works in partnership with internal and external customers to successfully deliver Projects. They work closely with internal divisions to ensure that Projects are delivered according to expected scope, delivered within time constraints and budget and successfully supported thereafter. Consultants will assist the Sales division in providing strategic guidance to customers in respect of current and future technology and infrastructure requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver technical projects according to project deliverables as outlined by Senior Consultant and Sales division
  • Be responsible for post-project handover and continual service improvement sessions for supporting stakeholders 
  • Provide daily progress project update to customers and key stakeholders
  • Update and complete project documentation and knowledgebase to enable effective handover to Service Desk or customer IT teams
  • Provide further support with project related incident, problem and change management issues highlighted by the Service Desk
  • Assist the Sales Division on customer infrastructures highlighting areas for improvement
  • Ensure time recording for project work is >95% accurate and complete
  • Research and be aware of new and emerging technologies and how this can enhance customer infrastructures
  • Maintain the internal network
  • Provide excellent and effective customer service, always
  • Correctly log and update service and project tickets
  • Ensure paperwork related to project delivery is completed accurately and within SLA
  • Any other duties specified by your line manager

Person Specification


  • Over 3 years or more experience working in a Managed Service Provider or similar IT support environment covering many different technical areas 
  • Experience with working on IT infrastructure projects responsible for planning, installation, and documentation 
  • Excellent communication skills, written, over the phone and face to face 
  • At least 1 formal IT qualification preferred higher education or above and / or suitable IT qualification in a recognised area i.e. Cisco CCNA, MSCA, MSCE or equivalent 
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience
  • Experience in troubleshooting infrastructure environments 
  • Willingness to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment 
  • Comfortable working within a team or on own initiative 
  • Full UK driving license 
  • Provide excellent documentation skills                                                                                                             


  • ITIL, Prince2, APM certification or membership
  • Experience of working in a Managed Service Provider or similar. 
  • Certification and/or excellent working knowledge of windows server 2003/2008/2012/2016 
  • Certification and/or excellent working knowledge of windows 7/8/10 
  • Certification and/or excellent working knowledge of Office2003/2010/2013/2016/365 
  • Certification and/or excellent Exchange server
  • 2003/2007/2010/2013/2016/365 implementation experience 
  • Certification and/or excellent working knowledge of major networking and infrastructure components, networking operating systems, infrastructure configuration and maintenance 
  • Experience of managing daily system checks, servers, backups and firewalls


  • £30k plus £3k car allowance and on call allowance
  • 40 hours per week
  • 25 days holiday plus BH’s
  • Based from Gloucester office
