Junior Infrastructure Engineer

Our client, a leading electrical organisation, are looking to welcome a junior infrastructure engineer to their expanding team in Gloucester. There has never been a more exciting time to jojn the business, with forthcoming projects including hardware refreshes, SD-WAN, accelerated cloud adoption, the implementation of a unified communication platform, Cyber-Security initiatives and the ongoing development of their own company app. This is a 2nd Line support role.

Role Responsibilities:

• Providing 2nd line deskside and remote IT support to all users.
• Escalating IT issues to senior members of the team where necessary.
• Mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior members of the team.
• Proactively recommending improvements to systems and processes.
• Troubleshooting software and hardware faults across the user and infrastructure estates.
• Configuring and deploying software to laptops, desktops and mobile devices.
• Installing software and services across a Microsoft server estate.
• Maintaining Microsoft, VMware and storage servers.

Role Requirements:

• Time spent working in a 2nd line role, ideally with previous 1st line experience.
• Previous use of IT service management tools.
• Working to defined SLAs.
• Understanding of basic cyber security principles.
• The management of small-medium IT projects and supporting larger ones.
