We are currently recruting for several experienced Machine Operatives to work on a full time permanent bassis at our clients cheese manufacturing facility in Ledbury. 

Our client produces formatted natural and processed cheeses for the food manufacturing, foodservice and Global QSR sectors.


Based in Ledbury and reporting to the Production Shift Manager you will be required to work on fixed shifts of 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm Monday- Friday.

The Role:

In this role, you will be working as part of a team on one of our state-of-the-art Production lines. You will carry out all Production-related tasks to produce high quality and great tasting products for our well-known customers, working in line with Health & Safety requirements. We utilise some of the latest interactive technology to monitor our product quality and measure our efficiency levels.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Cooking batches of pasteurised processed cheese and sauces in line with company and customer specifications and requirements.
• Mix/batch product into weighed proportions as per the plan, ensuring that the correct ratio of product is used and recorded.
• Carry out basic operation of cooker to ensure temperatures are correct and in accordance with procedure. Load/unload the product into/out of the cooker as per the plan to correct fill levels and specifications. Ensure correct labelling used.
• Assist with cooking changeovers by removing waste, cleaning equipment/floor in accordance with procedures.
• Visually check the quality of the product (colour, texture and size) against standard and carry out quality checks accurately recording the information in accordance with procedure.
• Sort through product placed on hold checking the quality. Dispose and accurately record any product defined as sub-standard.
• Setting up and preparation of processing lines.
• A focus on product quality, good hygiene and good manufacturing practice (GMP).
• Documentation of production runs and Critical Control Points (CCPs) using an iPad.
• Dealing with general low level machine breakdowns and basic maintenance of machines.
• Set up and preparation of a multi-vac packing machine.
• Managing the production of a multi-vac packing machine.
• Basic level of cleaning.

Key Requirements:

• Previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good understanding of food safety best practice.
• Good communicator.
• Team player – working with other shifts, low care end of line, blending, Engineering, Technical etc.
• Previous experience of leading a team.
• Organised.
• Have the capability or potential to run a line.
• Good attitude, reliable and flexible.
