We are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Assistant on a full time permanent basis. 


Our client  design and manufacture world class heating and cooling systems through pioneering smart innovation that matters. Based near the Rotherwas Industrial Estate and only a 5 minute commute from the city centre of Hereford.


The Role:

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager you will asked to carry  out the key day to day purchasing activities to ensure that business has a continuous flow of parts to the right quality and cost for the business to be globally competitive. Emphasis is on providing teams with accurate delivery dates through online Shortage Sheets for Electrical and Mechanical Components, ensuring stock availability, supplier quality management and management of cost associated with the above activities.

Key Tasks

1. Inventory control
1.1. Ensure that stock levels on the companies chosen manufacturing system are accurate and are maintained to the agreed max/min levels
1.2. Review and report on changing trends in stock usages
1.3. Work collaboratively with the wider business to ensure the stock provision is in line with our current and future manufacturing objectives
1.4. Manage and control stock counts in line with the companies’ agreed frequencies
2. Parts Availability
2.1. Ensure there is a sufficient flow of parts to production, this means that goods are delivered to the factory as agreed
2.2. Progressing purchase orders to ensure parts arrive on time and to mitigate any risks where necessary
2.3. To work with the wider business to ensure stock levels are in line with future forecasts
3. Supply Chain Management
3.1. Maintain a supply chain that ensure that we are globally competitive
3.2. Identify and manage any areas of supplier risk
3.3. Work with the purchasing manager to carry out annual appraisals of our suppliers and manage performance
3.4. Develop relationships with our supply chain to enable partnership
4. Supplier Quality Management
4.1. Manage supplier returns to ensure that credits are received promptly
4.2. Manage any supplier quality issues on the supplier quality log to ensure that any quality issues are dealt with promptly. Ensure that suppliers implement corrective and preventative actions for all quality issues


5. Cost Management
5.1. Work with the Purchasing Manager to reduce material spend
5.2. Work with the Purchasing Manager on cost down initiatives to reduce overall spend on materials
5.3. Work with the Purchasing Manager to ensure that all critical suppliers have committed pricing in place

Hours of work:

This is a full-time role with working hours from Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:30 – 17:00 with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break. We offer flexible working with a hybrid mode also available.  


A successful Purchasing Assistant candidate will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications, that include:
