The role of the Systems Engineer is to support ICT solution design, implementation and technical support to the customer base within the Defence and Security domain as well as providing the same level of support to the internal company network.

This post is for an integral member of that team who has proven ICT technical skills, predominately using Microsoft technologies operating at the 2nd and 3rd line support level.

Essential:

•        Current MCSA Certification or Equivalent Degree

•        Appropriate experience in 2nd and 3rd line support roles.

•        Extensive knowledge of Windows Server technologies from 2012 to 2019.

•        Extensive knowledge of Windows Desktop 10.

•        Experience of building, maintaining and configuring IT solutions and services within common virtualisation platforms.

•        Experience working with M365 Azure platform

•        Extensive experience of working with

Microsoft Windows domain architectures and the interaction between Active Directory components, Group Policy Objects and DNS for domain architectures. 

•        In depth understanding of system networking, load balancing, firewalls, routers and switches.

•        Able to problem solve Hardware/Software issues within complex ICT environments.

•        Good working knowledge of PowerShell for automation of installation and support tasks.

•        Experience of security implementation on complex IT infrastructures.

•        Understanding of the capabilities of Microsoft System Centre products.

•        Experience of using Microsoft System Centre products

  • Ability to achieve clearance. This requires full British Nationality and resident in the UK for a minimum of five years. 

 

Desirable: 

•        Azure M365 Administrator Qualifications

•        Understanding and experience of wider ICT Technologies.

•        Understanding or experience of working in highly secured IT environments.

•        Previous experience of training development and delivery to customers or company staff.

•        Knowledge of SQL Server, AV products and Services.

•        Experience of the provision of GIS technologies within IT systems.

•        Experience of implementing and maintaining Server/Client based application solutions.

•        Experience working in the Defence and Security domains.

•        Experience of creating and using test scripts for proof of requirements acceptance

Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will be responsible or accountable for:

•        Providing support, technical expertise, guidance and support to internal activities including:

o   Business development and sales opportunities oProposals and Tender responses oInnovation Tasks oInternal Technical Developments

•        Maintaining a knowledge of your area of expertise and relevant trends in wider industry

•        Providing support, technical expertise, guidance and support to customer activities including:

o   System or Capability development oImplementation and Delivery oRequirements capture and management oResearch and Development

•        Help to define software, hardware and network requirements for customers and internal staff.

•        Support customers and staff to develop agreed solutions and implement new systems as part of our standard Project Management methodology.

•        Present solutions in written or oral reports.

•        Develop and deliver training on IT systems and administration processes to users and system administrators.

•        Assist in the design, test, installation and monitoring of new systems in accordance with mandated standards in support of project delivery requirements.

•        Develop and maintain installation and configuration processes and procedures.

•        Develop Work Instructions (User Guides), Knowledge Base Articles and Build Guides in support of customer solutions.

•        Test and evaluate new technologies.

•        Advise customers and project teams on the build and configuration of hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with mandated standards to meet project/operational requirements.

•        Install and configure systems such as GIS infrastructure applications.

•        Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.

•        Assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and planning phases of our standard Project Management methodology.
