Assistant Accountant

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our clients small finance team based in Cheltenham. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and detail-focused finance professional who has strong accounting experience and a solid understanding of fixed asset accounting. Great team culture.

Key Responsibilities:
·Maintain and manage the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers and depreciation calculations
·Perform monthly depreciation postings and fixed asset reconciliations
·Support month-end and year-end close processes
·Prepare and post journals, accruals and prepayments
·Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting
·Support audit requirements and provide relevant documentation
·Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger activities
·Identify process improvements and support the wider finance team

About You:
The successful candidate will have:
·Proven experience working in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
·Strong experience with fixed asset accounting
·Good understanding of depreciation, asset registers and accounting controls
·Experience supporting month-end processes
·Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
·Good Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems
·Ability to work independently and as part of a wider finance team

Qualifications:
·AAT, ACCA, CIMA studies or equivalent experience would be advantageous
